National Gratitude Month

November is Gratitude Month and the perfect time to express gratitude for everything and everyone around us. Gratitude can be defined as an affirmation of goodness, to acknowledge the good we encounter daily, even on those days that feel heavy and make it difficult to see the interest.

When you experience gratitude, you feel grateful for something or someone in your life and will, in return, respond with kindness, warmth, and other forms of generosity. Showing gratitude has been linked to feeling happier due to the shift in focus from the negatives to the positives in life. Practicing gratitude is a way to cope with life’s chaotic and often stressful moments. People who practice gratitude tend to sleep better, eat healthier, and have lower stress levels than those who do not practice.  A bonus to practicing gratitude is that those around us may also feel happier.

Here are some ways to practice gratitude during November:

1. Start a gratitude journal

2. Spread appreciation to those around you

3. Give back to your community.

Let’s spend November grateful and see if we can make it last longer than a month!
